In 2020, voters delivered the White House and the Senate to Democrats. They sent a loud message and a clear mandate that we must provide solutions to their everyday problems.

This weekend, corporate Democrat Joe Manchin failed us.

Sen. Manchin announced that he’s planning to vote no on the crucial and massively popular Build Back Better Act. That means 36 million families depending on the expanded Child Tax Credit will not receive their monthly payment in January, right after the holidays. It also means the families of 10 million children will slip back into poverty next year.

We can’t give up or we could lose all we’ve fought so hard for: expanded healthcare access, affordable childcare and housing, lower prescription drug prices, universal preschool, climate change protections, clean water, our country’s first federal paid leave program, and so much more.

As one of the few members of Congress to hold firm for the Build Back Better agenda, demanding a vote on human needs at the same time as infrastructure, Rashida is not giving up. This fight is not over.
