State of the World 2021: Reproductive Rights

OUR VICTORIES:

🔵 President Biden entered office and took action to undo Trump-era policies that targeted access to reproductive healthcare,

🔵 The House passed the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would establish the right to abortion by requiring healthcare providers to offer abortion services,

🔵 Both the House and the Senate released spending bills that did not include the Hyde Amendment -- which restricts Americans on Medicaid from receiving abortion coverage -- for the first time in decades!!!

But 2021 was also a year of increasingly dangerous threats against our reproductive rights, especially abortion access.

OUR LOSSES:

❗❗ Over 100 abortion restrictions were passed in states nationwide.

❗❗ Two new Supreme Court cases have threatened Roe v. Wade’s precedent, which could effectively ban abortion procedures across nearly half of our states if the Supreme Court rules against abortion rights.

❗❗ And friend, we know that banning abortions will never stop abortions from happening -- it would just stop safe abortions.

There’s so much at stake in 2022 -- including reproductive rights. March On has been fighting on the front lines of our most important battles, and we know that our work is only beginning.
