Dear John,

Stop Climate Chaos recently hosted two webinars where we reflected on some of the big climate events and milestones of 2021 and looked to what 2022 has in store for climate campaigning. Both webinars were recorded and we’re sending you the links now in case you missed them and would like to watch them back over the Christmas and New Year break.

First up is a webinar we held last week. “The Climate Challenge in 2022 - from Plan to Action” examined the climate campaigning and policy landscape that's ahead of us next year. Watch the webinar back [[link removed]] to hear some expert insights from the following speakers:

Dr Cara Augustenborg, Environmental Policy Fellow at UCD and Member of the Climate Change Advisory Council.Dr Hannah Daly, Lecturer, Sustainable Energy and Energy Systems Modelling, UCC and member of the Carbon Budgets Committee of the Climate Change Advisory Panel.Dr Ciara Murphy, Environmental Policy Advocate, Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice. Member of the Steering Committee of the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition.Pat Leahy, Political Editor, The Irish Times. Watch it Back: The Climate Challenge in 2022 [[link removed]]

2021 has been a landmark year for Irish climate policy with the passing of the Climate Law, the preparation of Ireland’s first ever 5-year Carbon Budgets by the Climate Change Advisory Council and the publication of the Government’s new Climate Action Plan. 2022 is the year where this Plan must be turned into real action. This webinar examined the challenges and opportunities that we’ll encounter in 2022 as we campaign to ensure that this action actually happens.

Last month, we also hosted a webinar to reflect on the COP26 UN Climate Talks. We heard from a terrific panel of eight speakers who shared their reflections on the Talks, what we can learn from them and where we go next. This webinar is worth watching back here [[link removed]] if you didn’t manage to catch it live.

Don’t have time to watch the full webinar? You might like to watch this short video clip [[link removed]] of former Stop Climate Chaos Mobilization Coordinator, Áine O’Gorman, speaking about her experience at COP26. Youth voices at COP26 were particularly inspiring - you might like to watch this clip [[link removed]] from 16 year old Amy O’Brien who also spoke at our webinar and shared her reflections on travelling to Glasgow for the climate talks.

That’s it from the Stop Climate Chaos Coalition in 2021. We achieved a lot this year and we couldn’t have done it without people like you. From e-actions, to consultation submissions and talking to your TDs, every action you’ve taken this year has made a difference.

We hope you have a very happy Christmas and look forward to taking more action together in 2021.

With thanks for all you do,

Deirdre
