Welcome to Monday, December 20th, doves and pigeons…
COVID-19 cases are increasing once again in the U.S., ahead of the holiday season.
The U.S. is currently averaging roughly 120,000 new cases per day, about the same as last week’s average but still an over 40 percent increase over the past two weeks.
The new Omicron variant is causing surges worldwide and has been detected in over 30 states. Preliminary observations show that the variant is much better at evading antibodies and may be 25-50% more transmissible than Delta.
All available evidence has continued to point to the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines in lowering transmissibility and protecting against severe illness and death. With Omicron’s spread, recent studies have shown the newer booster vaccines will increase protection from breakthrough infections.
How do you feel about the ongoing rise in cases?
