Dear John,
I know this is a busy time as you prepare to gather with loved ones for Christmas to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
In John 8:12 we read that Jesus declared that He is the "light of the world." But He also used that phrase to describe all who follow Him, calling us the salt of the earth and a city on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:13-16).
Imagine for a moment how dark our world would be if we kept our faith confined to the four walls of our church buildings instead of openly proclaiming the wisdom of Scripture and applying it to the issues of today in every sphere of society?
Sadly, the caustic nature of American politics has some Christians concluding that followers of Jesus shouldn't be involved in government or policy. And that's exactly what the far Left would have us think.
I'm thankful for partners like you who understand that political engagement is a part of fulfilling the biblical command to love our neighbors.
