Friends –

My name is Robert Garcia, and I am announcing our campaign for Congress.

Let me explain why I am running, and why I am asking you to join this movement.

Like so many in Southern California, my journey here doesn’t just belong to me.

It’s an American story. I immigrated to the United States at age five and was raised in Southern California by my mother — my hero. My mom is with me everywhere I go. She shaped my life with her determination, her compassion and her dedication to her family and community. She brought me to this country and risked everything so that I could become an American. My mother didn’t just accept me — she made me who I am today.

My mother passed away from Covid-19. After we lost my mom, I made a promise that I would work harder than ever to make sure other families didn’t experience the same pain.

That’s why I’m running for Congress.

As mayor of Long Beach, I made sure to take action. Protecting our families has been my number one priority. Long Beach became a model for vaccine rollout throughout the country — we protected each other.

So, I’m asking you:

Will you make a donation to join our movement supporting my run for Congress? We’re launching a campaign on ideals that matter most to Southern Californians, and we need to start strong.

I have been honored to serve as Long Beach’s youngest elected mayor and the first openly gay & Latino mayor of Long Beach. As mayor, I’ve been focused on making the city of Long Beach a leader in education, economic development, public health, and climate protection.

I’ve fought to expand and protect rights for women, immigrants, and the LGBTQ+ community. I have pushed for a progressive education policy, launched an aggressive climate action plan and supported workers by increasing wages. I was also the first mayor of Long Beach to have appointed a majority of women to city commissions and boards.

But now, it’s time to think bigger. I see the risk that our country and our democracy faces. When politicians who chant “America first,” watch this virus tear through our country, vilifying the very people like my mom who came here for a better life, who’ve given everything to America — that doesn’t fly with me. I love Long Beach, I love California, and I love this country.

So please, join our movement and become a part of our grassroots team on day one. Thank you for being part of our fight to protect families, protect the American dream, and protect our future.

Together,

Robert Garcia
