Fighting around the clock for you [link removed] SIGN Our Official Petition to
Protect Social Security! [link removed] DearJohn, As you know, former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt promised retired Americans freedom from a poverty-ridden old age when he created Social Security in 1935. And Americans' overwhelming reliance on this program's benefits — money that you and millions of other people have paid into and earned during your working life — has underscored the importance of this promise. But deficit reduction measures promoted by some in Washington could result in dangerous cuts to this program and your future benefits. Some lawmakers even insist that reductions to Social Security benefits are necessary ...
At a time when many elected officials are considering deep benefit cuts, a raise to the retirement age and even privatizing this program for the benefit of Wall Street bankers, I'm asking you to <a alt="Click Here to Sign Our Petition" href="[link removed]" name="petition_promise_ss" style="text-decoration: underline; color: #004D96; text-align: left;" title="Click Here to Sign Our Petition" ><strong><u>sign our Official Petition to Congress today</u></strong></a>, addressed to your U.S. Representative.
These are your earned benefits, right? So shouldn't YOU have a say in the future of Social Security? Bottom line, we can't always expect our lawmakers to do the right thing. Sometimes they need to be reminded of why benefits are so important to millions of workers and retirees, and that any reductions to beneficiaries' monthly Social Security benefit check would be devastating to their well-being.
So please, don't take your benefits for granted! They must be protected and defended AROUND THE CLOCK. That's our job here at the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. And you are the lifeblood of our grassroots organization. Please do this one thing that will help keep our politicians honest. Sign our Official Petition to Congress and go on the record today about the critical nature of protecting and strengthening Social Security! [link removed]
Sincerely, Max Richtman
