Supporter,
Today, the Trump administration notified the U.N. that it is quitting theParis Agreement.
This shameful act of presidential negligence means that the U.S. will be the only country in the world that is not participating in this landmark international climate agreement. This is not only a stunning abdication of global leadership; it threatens to devastate ecosystems and unleash unprecedented suffering on generations of vulnerable people, both here and abroad.
We're not taking this lying down. We will work even harder with our allies in Congress and at the state and local level to hold this administration accountable and keep our country moving forward.
Please make a monthly donation to counter Trump's negligence and make it clear that we won't sit on the sidelines while the rest of the world acts.
Here are ten ways the Sierra Club plans to keep the spirit of the Paris Agreement alive in our work over the next few years:
-
Secure a commitment from our next president to rejoin the agreement on day one.
-
Go to the mat for the Green New Deal.
-
Continue retiring coal-fired power plants at a record pace.
-
Commit to repowering our cities and states with 100% renewable energy.
-
Work to electrify the transportation sector.
-
Fight to keep fossil fuels in the ground.
-
Undo the Trump administration's rollback of vital clean air and water protections.
-
Advocate for sustainable agriculture.
-
Ensure trade deals like NAFTA 2.0 don't deepen the climate crisis.
-
Partner with frontline communities to ensure a just transition to a cleaner, more climate-resilient world.
If we do our work well, we can undo much of the damage done by this administration. But we can't do it without you.
Please make a monthly gift to the Sierra Club today to keep our country moving forward.
Onward together,
