I don’t want my kids to be left cleaning up our planet—that’s why addressing climate change is one of my top priorities in Congress. Here’s a look at what I’m working on:
Stopping Big Oil and Holding Polluters Accountable
Taxpayers spend billions each year on subsidies that keep Big Oil companies profitable. I’ve introduced legislation which would protect our public lands from greedy oil companies and end subsidies that have allowed fossil fuel companies to profit at the expense of taxpayers.
Addressing Wildfires
Here in California, many families—including mine—know what it’s like to wake up to the smell of smoke. Last fire season, over 4 million acres burned, DOUBLE our state’s previous record and an amount of land greater than the entire state of Connecticut. To specifically address wildfires, I’ve introduced legislation that would standardize research on natural disasters and create an independent agency to study and improve planning for natural disasters like wildfires.
Investing in Green Energy
Green energy is good for the planet and good for the economy—it will bring jobs in manufacturing, research, engineering, and education. I’m proud to have advocated for legislation that would include major tax credits and investments to help businesses, the government, and families shift to using clean energy: in homes, on the road, and in manufacturing.
