Across the country, more and more wildlife “refugees” are moving into suburban areas. As droughts, wildfires, and other effects from climate change disrupt the environment, many species are being forced into human-populated areas. Unfortunately, some species, like coyotes, create threats to personal property and safety concerns for pets and humans alike.
SEEC members have been fighting for transformational policies to combat climate change and create communities more resilient to our rapidly changing planet. But the growing number of wildlife refugees causing destruction in neighborhoods is yet another new impact of climate change we haven’t had to address before.
