Many of the nations who participated in the COP26 summit pledged to cut their emissions only minimally.1 Plus, Big Oil and Gas are already funneling cash into next year's midterm elections, hoping to flip our pro-environment majorities in Congress.

We always knew lasting change would require diligence, resilience, and action. Thankfully, we have built a national community of volunteers, advocates, and grassroots activists who show up when and where it counts.


And while it's valuable to celebrate all we've accomplished this year—Keystone XL cancelled! Border Wall stopped! Paris Agreement rejoined!—we can't rest on our laurels, even for a moment.


In fact, we must scale up our work alongside coalition partners to move our country in a more just, equitable, and sustainable direction. And we must mobilize our grassroots network to secure vital environmental protections while we still have a majority in Congress—because the Republicans will try everything to take back a majority in the 2022 midterm elections.
