Hello John,

Last week, my colleagues in the Democratic Governors Association selected me to serve as chair for the coming year.

I’m so grateful for their faith in me.

In 2022, there will be 36 elections for governor. It’s a critical year for our country — and I believe that we can win everywhere we compete.

As Democrats, we are committed to continuing to deliver for the American people on what is most important: recovering from COVID-19, expanding health care access, defending against climate change, securing voting rights, and so much more.

While we realize there are difficult races ahead of us, it’s clear to me that these are the kitchen table issues that will inspire voters to head to the polls and choose their leaders. Speaking directly to what matters most is how we can win in 2022.

Our only mission as leaders is to serve the people we represent. I’m confident that my DGA colleagues are ready and able to do just that from coast to coast — I believe that the interests of the American people are in safe hands with my colleagues.

I look forward to working with the members of the DGA, and Governor Phil Murphy as vice chair, to re-elect our Democratic governors and flip states from red to blue.
