Congress just left Washington for the rest of the year without passing the Freedom to Vote Act.

But we have reason to be more optimistic than ever about the chances for this bill in January. 

Senator Manchin is in talks to reform the filibuster and pass the Freedom to Vote Act as soon as Congress returns from the winter break.

The Freedom to Vote Act is a once-in-a-generation bill that would stop billionaires from bribing our politicians, end partisan gerrymandering at the congressional level, and protect the right to vote for millions of Americans. 

Reports from D.C. are saying that Senator Manchin is ready to play ball: reforming the filibuster to save American democracy. 

It’s time for Congress to prioritize our democracy. Dozens of states are redrawing their congressional districts right now and plan to be done as early as next month. Unless Congress passes the Freedom to Vote Act and outlaws congressional gerrymandering as soon as they return, millions of voters will be stuck in rigged districts for the next decade.
