While not everyone celebrates or observes Christmas, it is a holiday that serves as a reminder of how important it is to give back to our communities.
John: It's hard to believe, but there's just one week until Christmas Day.
While not everyone celebrates or observes Christmas, it is a holiday that serves as a reminder of how important it is to give back to our communities, and to treat each other with love and care, especially as we face yet another holiday season during a global pandemic.
Right here in New York's 16th District, families are still reeling from the coronavirus pandemic. Millions of families are facing hunger, housing insecurity, and unemployment, all while the wealthy and privileged continue to profit off of this trauma caused by the pandemic.
So today, I wanted to uplift local organizations in my community, and am hoping you can join me by chipping in a donation to Feeding Westchester, LIFE Progressive Services, and the Luther V. Garrison Sr. Masonic Foundation — which I'll share more about below. Will you donate $3 or any amount? 100% of the proceeds will go to these organizations.
Contribute $5
- Feeding Westchester leads hunger action programs and mobilizes the resources needed to eradicate hunger in Westchester County.
- LIFE Progressive Services is a Mount Vernon-based organization that helps formerly incarcerated individuals in New York transition back into the community through advocacy, education, and resource provisions. LIFE also runs a community meal service program that feeds hundreds of families per week.
- Luther V. Garrison Sr. Masonic Foundation is a foundation committed to providing impactful services and assistance, free of charge to communities in need in NY-16 for the past decade. The LVG Scholarship program, in particular, is designed to assist college students from low-income families pay their tuition fees.
Even if you can spare $3 — one dollar each to these organizations — it would mean a lot to me, and to the greater movement of love we're building on the ground here in our district.
And no matter what, John, I want to thank you for being a part of this movement. Wishing you and your loved ones peace and love this Christmas and this holiday season.
Peace and love,
Jamaal Bowman
