John,
I grew up living the same struggles as so many people in our country. I’ve struggled with housing insecurity, lack of access to healthcare, and an unjust system that doesn’t value our voices or our lives.
Early on, I realized that, if no one would stand up for people like me, then I would have to do it for myself. So I got to work. For years, I’ve worked as a political organizer, advocating for those of us who’ve been cut out of the political system and left behind by leaders like Rep. Donald Payne Jr.
And when Congress failed to extend the eviction moratorium, I took my fight to Capitol Hill, fighting alongside Cori Bush to protect families from eviction. While we stood up for housing justice, my opponent was nowhere to be found.
My opponent takes money from corporate PACs run by polluters and pharmaceutical companies that don’t care about our community.
Rep. Payne serves those special interests, not us. We deserve better.
I know what it’s like to be left behind by those in power. That’s why I’m fighting to bring down failed leaders like Rep. Payne, take on New Jersey’s corrupt political machine, and give people like you and me a real, progressive voice in our government.
With Gratitude, Imani
