Working to move the needle forward for equity and inclusion is about creating long-term sustainable change. Whether it is our work in policy or in the entertainment industry, your investment helps us carry out our mission to tell a better American Muslim story as a diverse and integral part of the fabric of America.
Storytelling is a great conduit to shaping culture, opinions, and values. It’s a powerful tool in uniting people. To this end, MPAC’s Hollywood Bureau is working to ensure that better stories are told about and by us. You see, our work in Hollywood is not for entertainment purposes but so that audiences see how vital Muslim communities are to this nation.
Here are four ways your investment has supported our work in Hollywood this year:
Unveiled a $10,000 grant for Black Muslim Filmmakers to elevate the rich stories about and by Black Muslim creatives. This was made possible with the support of CAA Foundation’s Full Story Initiative.
Championed the inclusion of Muslim creative voices by partnering with Film Independent to award a $10,000 grant to an American Muslim writer.
Opened submissions for the second annual Muslim List in partnership with The Black List and Pillars Fund to elevate the profiles and voices of Muslim talent.
Cultivated future Muslim talent and provided opportunities through the WarnerMedia Access Bootcamp for creatives who aspire to work in the industry but lack access.
Founded in 1988, the Muslim Public Affairs Council improves public understanding and policies that impact American Muslims by engaging our government, media, and communities.
