John, today is International Migrants Day and we at the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) need your support to help families from Afghanistan resettling in the United States.

Thousands of Afghans were evacuated to the United States to escape violence after the Taliban overthrew Afghanistan’s government. Many Afghan human rights workers, journalists, and others who were at great risk in Afghanistan need protection. Here’s where you come in.

The vast majority of people evacuated to the United States do not yet have legal protection or permanent status and require legal assistance. You can ensure Afghans in the United States receive comprehensive information about their legal options and receive support to seek asylum.

Donate to NIJC’s Emergency Legal Fund for Afghan Families to help people get the legal support they need to resume their lives and pursue a safe future in the United States.

For more than three decades, NIJC has been a leader in protecting the rights of refugees by providing excellent and affordable immigration legal services and we’re ready to respond to this moment.

We’re providing legal orientations for Afghans resettling in Illinois and workshops for people who are applying for asylum, so they have the tools and information they need to pursue a safe future in the United States. We’re working with our partner organizations to build capacity to serve as many people as possible. We’re developing resources to make sure that NIJC can respond to any new options for immigration relief that Congress makes available to Afghans and help Afghans who are ready to apply for other types of status for themselves and their families.

NIJC’s goal is to provide legal support to all people evacuated from Afghanistan who are resettling in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. But we need your support to do it.

In honor of International Migrants Day today, donate to NIJC’s Emergency Legal Fund for Afghan Families now: https://immigrantjustice.org/AfghanFund

Thank you for your compassion and generosity in welcoming those who are seeking safety and an opportunity to rebuild their lives in the United States.

With gratitude,

Dalia Fuleihan
