Hey John,
This Saturday, November 9th, join us at the Meetup: From Trump to Smithfield: How Whistleblowers Win to learn more about the importance of whistleblowing in the animal rights movement. Meetups happen very Saturday at 11am for everyone and anyone who cares about animals and making the world a better place! Don't miss out.
Here are the other events we have happening this week (all taking place at the Berkeley Animal Rights Center, 2425 Channing Way, unless otherwise noted). Action events are colored in blue and community events are colored in orange -- both are crucial to our movement!
- Friday, November 8th, 6:00pm: Click Party + Movie Night: Countdown to Year Zero - Join us to watch Jane Velez-Mitchell of "Jane Unchained"'s documentary, Countdown to Zero! The documentary hones in on the urgent issue of climate chaos, inspired individuals who are working to change things, and what we can do to make a difference! For the workparty we will be "clicking" to help DxE fundraiser! Fundraising is crucial for DxE to continue our work to save animals and build a movement!
- Saturday, November 9th, 11:00am - 8:00pm: Veggie Grill Fundraiser for DxE - We are excited to announce that Veggie Grill in Berkeley will be donating to DxE. They are kindly going to donate back 33% so please RSVP and show up! The location is 48 SHattuck Square, Berkeley, CA. See you there!
- Saturday, November 9th, 1:00pm: Chickens and Pancakes - Help keep our rescued hens safe and happy by fueling yourself with vegan pancakes and improving their living setup. This is a great event if you want to meet rescued animals and learn what it takes to care for them. Just being present, normalizing compassion towards chickens, and socializing the hens is a huge help! If you'd like to, feel free to bring fresh vegetables, leafy greens, non-citrus fruits or seeds for the hens! The adress is 1515 Dwight Way, Berkeley, CA 94703.
- Saturday, November 9th, 1:00pm: High Intensity Protest Training - Do you want to better equip yourself to join nonviolent protests and disruptions? Are you interested in participating in higher-intensity actions? Then this training is for you! The training includes a brief overview of DxE's protest goals and strategy, how to get into events, responding to violence, a Know Your Rights training, and more. Each section will include hands-on practice. In order to make protests as effective, safe and empowering as possible, protests organized for the DxE SF Bay Area chapter are now divided into "Tiers". Everyone is welcome to attend Tier I protests, but activists wanting to attend Tier II protests will need to attend this training first. While everyone is welcome to attend, this training is best suited for activists who have attended a few DxE protests before and are interested in doing more high intensity protests.
This is an e-mail list for DxE SF Bay Area event announcements. Check out our online calendar or Facebook page to keep track of all the events we've got going on.
