As an ER physician, I saw firsthand the heartbreaking struggles of patients who were left behind by our healthcare system. Our nation’s healthcare crisis has a huge economic cost and an immeasurable moral price tag.

As a candidate for Congress, I witnessed how callous some of our elected officials can be with these life or death issues. The ongoing pandemic is making it painfully clear — it’s vital that we have healthcare leaders at every level of government.

Local leaders have been working around the clock to disperse the COVID relief our communities need. State leaders have continued to fight for the resources our communities need to fight this pandemic. And with healthcare advocates in the House, Senate, and White House, we were able to pass historic COVID relief that is helping our country get back to health and back to work quickly. Most importantly, their efforts prioritize equity to ensure no one is left behind.

Electing healthcare advocates at every level of government who focus on patients over profits is imperative.
