John,

With the end of the year right around the corner, I wanted to reach out and share a rundown of our favorite moments from the campaign this past year.

Before we get into it, I think a second should be spent thanking everyone who's supported Kara and our campaign this year. Since June, when Kara announced her candidacy, folks from Hauppauge to Montauk have donated their time, energy, and hard-earned money to help flip this seat blue for working people and families.

Thanks to you all, Kara's been out and about meeting voters, building coalitions, and sharing her vision for the future that puts Long Island firmly on the path towards progress.

So, thank you! If you've been able to help, we're grateful to have you.

On the trail in 2021:

On June 2nd, we launched this movement with the support of hundreds of community members beside us. We started things off on the right foot, and we're carrying this momentum forward to this day.

On July 5th, we celebrated Independence Day by participating in the Port Jefferson Parade -- the same parade Kara went to as a kid.

On August 2nd, Kara helped clean up beaches with local families:

On October 2nd, Kara joined activists and progressives for a rally in protest of the Texas abortion ban.

On November 25th, Kara shared her family recipe of making one of the best Mac n Cheese recipes that I've ever tasted.

Dad's Mac'n Cheese Recipe: (Makes 2 half trays)

What you'll need:
  • 1 quart whole milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3 heaping tablespoons flour
  • 3 lbs cheddar cheese(½ mild ½ sharp)
  • 3 teaspoons mustard
  • Save ½ lb cheese for top
  • 2 boxes of elbow macaroni
What to do:
  • Begin cooking elbow pasta, simultaneously start the cheese sauce.
  • Pour milk into a big pot on the stove on low-med heat (3.5). Stir in flour, butter, mustard, and slowly add cheese while stirring continuously, so it doesn't burn on the bottom of the pot.
  • Drain and Pour cooked elbows into a flat pan. Pour cooked cheese sauce onto elbows and stir in the pan so it evenly spreads throughout.
  • Sprinkle leftover cheese on top and cook for 1 hour at 325-350 F.

On December 8th, Kara joined the Smithtown Democrats to celebrate the holidays and worked on plans to elect more democrats.

Big thanks to their chair, Ed Maher, for putting on such a great event. What's more festive than working together to elect democrats up and down the ballot next year?
