In this season of Advent, I have no shortage of hope.
In our December print issue, I outlined the crisis of legitimacy facing our ruling class and the disorienting atmosphere left in their place. Global commitments, cultural shifts, and economic hardships have all lead to a common complaint: betrayal.
Yet, this season of preparation is a reminder that renewal is possible even in times of grave darkness. There is no doubt in my mind that First Things readers like you will be at the heart of this revival.
As I noted in my email to you earlier this week, you come to First Things because we are rooted in rich religious traditions. It is these same traditions which give us reason to hope.
As a reader, you are another source of our hope, inspiring us with faithful humility and courage. In that same spirit, I ask that you please consider enhancing your participation in the First Things community with a gift today.
First Things’ 2021 Year-End Campaign aims to bring together hundreds of print and online readers like you to give $800,000 before the start of the new year. Will you help us meet our goal by donating today?
Your contribution to First Things will ensure we remain a confident voice for truth in the year ahead. Thank you for your support. And thank you for being a reader of First Things.
