John,
In 2017, Trump's nominee to lead the Federal Communications Commission, Ajit Pai, repealed regulations that ensured net neutrality.
Without basic net neutrality protections, large phone and cable companies were then able to block, throttle, and slow access to sites and services at will, charge new fees for users and companies to reach audiences online, and freely sell our data.
To start undoing Trump and Pai's legacy at the FCC, President Biden appointed two champions for net neutrality. The Senate has already confirmed Biden's first nominee, Jessica Rosenworcel, to be the chair of the FCC. But the fate of his other nominee, Gigi Sohn, up for the fifth FCC commissioner position, is up in the air if we don't act fast.
We're looking for 100,000 Americans to defend net neutrality by signing our petition. Can you be one of them? Tell your Senators to act now to confirm Gigi Sohn to the FCC, and to do all they can to reinstate net neutrality.

Like Rosenworcel, Gigi Sohn has a long record of fighting for the public interest, as opposed to the interests of giant corporations like Comcast, Verizon, and AT&T. Getting Gigi Sohn confirmed will give us a functional FCC and a decisive majority that will fight to reinstate net neutrality protections and ensure everyone has access to the Internet.
If this public interest champion is confirmed, we'll be one step closer to finally undoing Ajit Pai’s harmful repeal of net neutrality.
But time is tight: we need the Senate to confirm both these nominees before the end of the year, or we risk not winning back net neutrality in 2022.
We need fewer than 7,000 names left to reach our goal of 100,000 signatures. Sign the petition: Urge the Senate to quickly confirm Biden’s FCC nominee Gigi Sohn.
