Michael traveled 1,850 miles across Colorado this summer alone, talking to Coloradans about the issues that matter most to them. Last year, he visited every single one of Colorado’s 64 counties to talk to Coloradans about what they needed to recover from the pandemic.
As he travels the state, Michael hears stories from the people he serves: he learns about their concerns, their struggles, and the issues affecting them the most.
From the strain of trying to make ends meet to the rising costs of child care, health care, and more, these conversations are the motivation behind his fight to expand the Child Tax Credit, a tax cut for millions of working families.
This tax cut for working parents has:
- Helped one million Colorado kids and tens of millions of kids across the country — increasing economic stability for families.
- Kept three million children out of poverty nationwide, this year alone.
- 3.3 million fewer people with kids went hungry after we implemented the program; adults with children who reported not having enough to eat fell by about 1/3.
This is one of Michael’s top priorities. He’s running between meetings and negotiations, while fighting to extend the program for another year, so he doesn’t have as much time as he’d like to focus on fundraising. That’s where you come in.
