Social Security in Iowa is in trouble.

The Social Security program here in Iowa is drastically understaffed and ill-equipped to protect our senior population. We have the fourth-highest percentage of seniors in the nation, and this number is only rising.

We need to find a smart, long-term solution to improve Social Security in Iowa -- and we need to find it fast.

We’re already seeing the results of understaffing in outrageous wait times and calls going unanswered. Our seniors have paid their entire working career into the system and expect to be protected. They deserve this peace of mind.

I’m hoping you can take a moment to add your name with mine to call on the Social Security Administration to do more to protect the millions of seniors who rely on it.

We don’t have a lot of time for the Social Security Administration to get things right. By 2022, an additional 80 million Americans will be eligible for retirement. If they can’t get back on track now, we could see the entire system collapse.

That’s why I need your help right now to demand the Social Security Administration do more to prepare for the surge of retirees entering the system while protecting those already utilizing it. Please take a second to add your name.

Thank you,
Cindy Axne
