Dear Friends,
As we are nearing the end of another challenging year, I want to share my heartfelt thanks for your tireless commitment and inspiring work in 2021 to Turn It Around for people and the planet.
Thank you for bringing your unique energy and passion in mobilizing people all over the world to take action for a more equitable, green and sustainable future, where no one is left behind.
As we look to 2022, we will double our efforts to deepen participation, ownership and trust in key SDG-related processes whilst inspiring individuals, communities and institutions to take action and shift behaviors and policies to accelerate the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Building on all that we have learned these past two years of the pandemic, I am proud to announce our new campaign ‘Flip the Script’ which will challenge us to rethink and re-imagine – to flip apathy into action, fear into hope, division into togetherness with the overall aim of demonstrating that positive change is possible.
Last but not least, let me share the impressive results of the many initiatives we carried out togethr - none of which would have been possible without the commitment, passion and professionalism of my SDG Action Campaign team.
Wishing you resilience and optimism and a wonderful start to 2022. I am very much looking forward to continuing our cooperation to make the Sustainable Development Goals a reality.

SDG Global Festival of Action
25-26 March 2021
This year, our fully virtual Festival brought together more than 24,000 participants from 203 countries and territories. In addition, 12,000 people joined our 27 interactive workshops which is a testament to the will to engage for the SDGs.

UN SDG Action Awards
25 March 2021
The UN SDG Action Awards received over 2,000 applications from initiatives in 140+ countries. Out of nine inspiring finalists, three were announced as winners during the live ceremony.

Play:Fair Music Activation
17 July 2021
Our music activation kick started the Global Week to #Act4SDGs in Milan, Italy. Nearly 11,000 people watched the global broadcast and the accompanying Dialogues. More than 1,600 registered their sustainable actions from 136 countries.

This year’s Global Week to #Act4SDGs was the largest ever - inspiring 100 MILLION+ SDG actions from organizations and individuals around the world.

Turning Point Dialogues
This year we organized 12 Turning Point Dialogues. Changemakers from across the world shared their vision on climate action and poverty alleviation, to human rights and combating global inequalities.

COP26
November 2021
We organized a dynamic discussion at the UNFCCC Global Innovation Hub on ‘Reimagining Innovation to Achieve the SDGs’ where the climate edition of the Flip the Script Campaign was launched. We then joined the Global Day of Action mobilization and took the #FlipTheScript Campaign to the Common Ground Festival and Pathways to Paris concert.
