While the Biden administration is working hard to tackle climate change with the support of SEEC members, it’s crucial to move away from fossil fuels at every opportunity, particularly when it pertains to our public lands.

John,

As a candidate for president, Joe Biden promised he would ban new oil and gas drilling on public lands if elected.

His climate plan was unequivocal: “Banning new oil and gas permitting on public lands and waters” and “modifying royalties to account for climate costs” were two steps he pledged a Biden administration would take.

But, to date, President Biden and his administration have failed to honor this promise.

Interior Secretary Deb Haaland released a roadmap for the future of federal oil and gas leasing the day after Thanksgiving. But the plan proposed only raising the fees Big Energy must pay for their federal land leases and extractions.

We must hold President Biden to his word. Add your name to our petition calling on the president to honor his commitment.

Here's the deal, John.

House Democrats and SEEC members are fighting back against oil drilling projects and ventures on public lands. SEEC members Raúl Grijalva, Jared Huffman, and Alan Lowenthal filed an amicus brief with the DC Circuit Court asking to vacate the latest offshore lease sale by the Department of Interior.

While the Biden administration is working hard to tackle climate change with the support of SEEC members, it’s crucial to move away from fossil fuels at every opportunity, particularly when it pertains to our public lands.

John, SEEC members of Congress will keep pressuring President Biden and his administration to ban oil and gas drilling on public lands. It’s a promise made—and one to keep.

Will you stand with SEEC members as they carry this message to the president? Add your name to raise our calls for immediate action, together.
