Friend, We often say that Faith in Action is a community rooted in love. But what does that mean, exactly? Let me show you. When Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana and Mississippi in August, it left over one million people without electricity, in some cases for weeks. It put a strain on hospitals that were already at capacity because of COVID-19. And it endangered those who stayed through the storm, who were then subjected to a severe heat wave without electricity or air conditioning. Our New Orleans-based partner organization POWER Coalition/VOTE sprang into action, working to support affected communities and place volunteers on the ground to support rescue efforts and hospitals. Faith in Action members mobilized to donate money, diapers, infant formula, insulin, water, and food staples to those without power or supplies. We showed up for those who needed us and lived our love by taking care of one another through this severe crisis. This is what it means to be rooted in love. The work of Faith in Action is the work of love. Please, if you can, donate to sustain our work through 2022 as we prepare for future climate disasters and organize to make sure our communities have the infrastructure we need to thrive in our changing world. There is no doubt that we will be confronted with challenges, natural disasters, and climate emergencies in 2022. But through it all, I am sustained and encouraged by this community’s support. Time and time again, we show up for each other and demonstrate the power of love. If you can, please donate to sustain our community for the work ahead. No matter what the future brings, Faith in Action will be there to help.
