I’ve never lost sight of why I got into the field.

John,

As a doctor, you take an important oath: “first, do no harm.”

On the labor and delivery floor and in the operating room, that meant putting the patient’s health and safety first and fighting for them no matter what. It’s a principle I have often thought of during my years representing Pennsylvanians, too.

When I came to realize so many of the things impacting my patients were happening outside the exam room, I knew I had to do more. Nothing I could do as their doctor could change the fact that they didn’t have paid leave or that they couldn’t access the healthy foods they needed to manage their diabetes while pregnant.

After fighting to help pass the Affordable Care Act as president of a national organization pushing for health care reform, I took the second oath of my life: to serve Pennsylvania’s third-largest county as Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.

In that role, I’ve helped make real progress for Pennsylvanians – securing a $15 minimum wage and paid family leave for our county employees, rebuilding infrastructure, and taking real steps to fight the climate crisis.

That record of solving problems and delivering real results is unique in politics these days, especially in Washington. And now I’m ready to take my next oath as a U.S. Senator, so I can bring my experience as a physician and public servant to Washington to take up some of our biggest challenges and help Pennsylvania families.

I’m determined to bring science and facts into the U.S. Senate, but I can’t do it without your support. That’s why it’s so important we meet our Facts Over Fiction Fund goal. So I’m asking you to put science first by making a donation today.

Thank you again for your support. I’m so glad to have you on our team.
