The New York Times reports that "Secretaries of state like Jocelyn Benson,
charged with administering elections in their states, are among the most
visible targets of the Stop the Steal movement, and the clearest examples
of how Mr. Trump’s election claims have opened up new, lopsided political
terrain in heretofore sleepy corners of the electoral system."
Indeed, armed demonstrators gathered outside of Benson’s home after Trump
baselessly claimed that there had been massive voter fraud in her state
last year.
Now, Trump’s allies are fighting to replace her and other pro-democracy
Secretaries of State with Trump loyalists who could overturn democratic
elections if their chosen candidate loses.

are elected in key battleground states such as Arizona, Nevada, Georgia,

Jocelyn Benson and other Democratic Secretaries of State are not just
targets of Trump's movement. Based on what they are seeing on the ground,
they are raising the alarm.
Secretary Benson recently told the New York Times: "This is a five-alarm
fire. If people aren’t taking this as the most important issue of our time
and acting accordingly, we may not be able to ensure democracy prevails
again in 2024."
Ensuring that strong, pro-voter, pro-democracy leaders hold the critical
office of Secretary of State in battleground states is one of the most
impactful things we can do right now to protect our democracy.
