Fundraising is crucial to a grassroots campaign like mine, but to tell you the truth — money matters more than I’d like it to matter.

I’d much rather spend my time talking with Arkansans about the issues they’re facing and working together to find solutions to lift up their communities.

But, as a scientist, I’m not afraid to take a hard look at the numbers — and to win this race we need to raise enough money to stay competitive. Plus, we’re up against Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Trump coalition who already have over $11 million at their disposal.

If you take a look at some of the emails coming from the Sanders campaign, you’d think the world was ending. But I’m not going to scare you into supporting my campaign: I’m going to ask you to make a contribution because these grassroots donations are the lifeblood of my campaign.

I’m sure your inbox is filled with “sky is falling” emails asking for donations, but this campaign is built on the idea that there’s a better way to lead. That’s why I’ve got no scare tactics up my sleeve: just an honest determination to build a better future for Arkansas.
