Grab your coffee and settle in

Dear John,
Happy Friday! We are sharing a new round of all things interesting, inspiring, and infuriating. As a reminder, this is a collection of content our team has been sharing amongst ourselves and thought might resonate with you too. Grab some coffee or tea and kick off your Friday with us!

Here are five recent things we think you’ll appreciate:
1. We love love: In this ad ([link removed]) from Norway, Santa found new love and we’re here for it. Be sure to have a box of tissues handy.

2. Maternity ranches should not be a thing: You may have seen this concept pop up on your newsfeed as the United States still reels from the Texas SB8 law. This article does a great job ([link removed]) explaining the danger in praising these “ranches” that step in with "host homes" and baby supplies for the women they pressure into continuing their unwanted pregnancies. Bodily autonomy is an undeniable human right. No number of free diapers will replace that.

3. We’re still talking about our language: This podcast ([link removed]) did a great job unpacking what the phrase “pregnant people” is really about. Definitely take a listen.

4. Friends of Ipas: Congrats to Dr. Tlaleng Mofokeng for being named to the BBC News list of 100 “inspiring and influential women" for 2021 ([link removed]) . Dr. T is our hero and an important advocate for the repro health and rights of people around the world, no matter who they are. We were lucky to have her join a Facebook Live we did earlier this year. Check it out ([link removed]

We also want to highlight the bravery and selflessness of Michele Goodwin, who shared her personal abortion story in this piece for The New York Times ([link removed]) . We were honored to have Michele as part of our Chats with Changemakers ([link removed]) series, where she sat down with Ipas president and CEO Anu Kumar to discuss how white supremacy drives the anti-abortion, anti-rights movement.

5. Raising the next generation of activists: Our very own Bethany VanKampen Saravia, senior legal advisor at Ipas, spoke with the Today Show ([link removed]) while rallying with her daughter in front of the Supreme Court as they began hearing oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ([link removed]) .
