Dear John:

This Saturday, December 18th, we celebrate International Migrants' Day | El Día Internacional del Migrante. With our partners in the global human rights community, we take this day to recognize and lift up the rights of migrants around the world. Signed in 1990, this year is the 31st anniversary of the UN's International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (commonly referred to as the Migrant Workers Convention or Migrant Rights Convention). For more information on the historic significance of this day, visit our IMD page on NNIRR's website.

To commemorate this important day, please join us in solidarity by taking action to protect Miguel Castaneda Araujo —journalist, advocate, community leader, and beloved family member— from imminent deportation. Miguel has dedicated his life to fighting injustice and corruption, but now the U.S. government wants to deport him to Mexico, where his life is in danger. The Biden administration can take action in his case, and we are raising our collective voices to call on DHS to stay his deportation and reopen his immigration case.

I have been here a long time and I will always serve the community.

~ Miguel Castaneda Araujo

Miguel Castaneda Araujo is a 72-year-old journalist, anti-corruption advocate, and community leader facing imminent deportation. For 40 years Miguel has enriched his Bay Area community as a restaurant owner, radio host, and activist.

Now he needs our support as he fights to remain in the country he calls home.

Please take a minute to send a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, urging DHS to step in and prevent Miguel’s deportation. Then share the petition on social media!
