Catching up with Crenshaw

It’s Congressman Crenshaw checking in after another week in Washington. This week, I dropped a bipartisan energy bill, joined multiple issue-focused coalitions, and, of course, voted on legislation.

forging ahead on the
environment and energy

I’m honored to join the American Flood Coalition and the House Energy Action Team (HEAT). As a new member of both groups, I look forward to continuing my efforts to improve flood mitigation and energy innovation, both of which are vital issues to the greater Houston area.

The American Flood Coalition is a nonpartisan organization dedicated to finding solutions for areas of the country that have been devastated by flooding. The coalition focuses on creating policies that strengthen the economy, invest in cities and towns, and safeguard America’s national security.

Spearheaded by Minority WHIP Steve Scalise, HEAT’s mission is to promote common sense energy solutions that are clean, cheap, and exportable. The group combats radical proposals like the Green New Deal by advocating for pro-market energy policies that will lower our carbon emissions. Additionally, I serve on the Oil & Gas, Innovation, and Exports & Global Energy Security subcommittees.

a legislative win for the

This week, I dropped the Launching Energy Advancement and Development through Innovation for Natural Gas (LEADING) Act of 2019. This bipartisan legislation, should it pass, would secure a legislative win for the energy capital of the world, Houston. The LEADING Act aims to advance carbon capture technology through the prioritization of research and development funding for technology that captures carbon emissions by instructing the Department of Energy to utilize up to $50 million each year of existing funds. More developed carbon capture technology will result in widespread use and lower carbon emissions from power plants across the country.

vote of the week: raise the wage act

When it comes to passing legislation, we have to ask ourselves: does it actually do good, or does it just feel good?

A $15 minimum wage would not do good. It would negatively affect our economy and the people it’s supposedly aimed at helping.

This weekend at the Houston World Series of Dog Shows I judged the Best in Rescue competition with Jim McIngvale (Mattress Mack) and Houston PetTalk’s publisher, Michelle Mantor at NRG Park. It’s the dog show’s 42nd year.

I brought one of my own rescue dogs along, Joey, to help me out. Special congratulations to winner Emmy and her dog, Cookie Monster!
