Giving Tuesday

Dear Friends,

I invite you to donate today to strengthen NRCAT’s efforts to limit the worldwide spread of drone warfare.

In 2021, NRCAT led an alliance of faith groups to advocate for Congress to act to limit the use of armed drones by banning the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from using armed drones to kill people. Thanks to our united efforts, there is growing support within Congress for legislation to accomplish this.

NRCAT also met with members of President Biden’s Administration throughout 2021 to call for an end to U.S. drone strikes. While the Administration has not ended armed drone strikes, it has dramatically reduced their use – a significant change from the escalation of drone warfare we saw under the Trump Administration.

NRCAT convenes the Interfaith Working Group on Drone Warfare in Washington, D.C. which organizes interfaith educational efforts around armed drones. The Working Group also drafted a joint interfaith memo laying out steps the incoming Biden Administration could take to limit the use of armed drones. With your financial support, NRCAT and our partners will continue these efforts in 2022.

This campaign isn’t just about policy. It is about people and their future security, both here in the U.S. and around the world. You may have read about the horrific mistake the U.S. made with a drone strike in Kabul, Afghanistan in late August. Ten innocent civilians, including seven children, were killed. This is only one example of how drone strikes cost innocent lives.

Your support today will allow NRCAT to continue to organize alongside our human rights partners and interfaith members to support legislation and work with President Biden to end the indiscriminate use of armed drones.

Thank you for your support!

Matt Hawthorne
Policy Director
