We reached out earlier this week with information on the upcoming Senate votes on the Build Back Better Act —
the strongest climate bill in U.S. history, which will put our country on the path to cut climate pollution in half by 2030.
Friend — news on the votes is developing quickly. It appears that Sen. Joe Manchin — the final holdout among Democrats, and the 50th vote needed to pass the bill — is still in negotiations with President Biden over a tax credit included in the bill. The Senate vote is now expected when Senators return in two weeks in the new year.
Bottom line: there is an incredibly urgent need to keep pressure up to ensure that the entire suite of transformational environmental provisions in the bill move forward.
We have to keep our campaign going.
A year end contribution to LCV will keep this historic campaign running strong to fight for climate action now — please, make your gift to LCV today. Even $5 can make a difference »
LCV has run groundbreaking grassroots campaigns for months on end, in states across the country — all to get to this point. Now, as we push towards the Senate votes, resources are running extremely low. We did not plan for our campaigns to extend this long, yet we've kept organizers on the ground and are hoping to keep a major media strategy going as long as it takes.
That includes TV, digital ads, print, billboards — all highlighting a once-in-a-generation opportunity for action on climate, justice, and jobs.
That will only happen with your help. This could really make the difference: We're asking if you'll make an urgent year-end contribution today, before the vote.
This vote is extremely important, friend. Help us keep up the fight today.
Thank you for everything you do for the environment, and happy holidays from all of us at LCV.
Sincerely,
Alex Hess
