Closing the Door on 2021

Earlier this week we held the last 2021 meeting for the Indiana Republican State Committee, and to say that we're ready for the 2022 election cycle is an understatement. As I've been on the road meeting with county chairs, volunteers, and other active Republicans, it is clear that our statewide team is organized and motivated and ready to do our part to take back the House and Senate. We spent most of 2021 laying the groundwork for a successful cycle and will be ready to put our plans in place next year.

Until then, we are enjoying the final weeks of the year with friends and family. Christmas is right around the corner and I know most of you will join with me in spending these closing days of 2021 doing some last minute Christmas shopping, going to church, reveling in family traditions, and spending time with friends, coworkers, and loved ones. However you spend Christmas and the holidays, enjoy your time and let's be ready to win in 2022.

Thank you,
Kyle

Governor Holcomb's Week That Was

Building One Indiana For All

Governor Holcomb announced the recipients of the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) ([link removed]) grants. Launched by Governor Holcomb, READI encourages regional collaboration and data-driven, long-term planning that, when implemented, will attract and retain talent in Indiana. The governor and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) awarded $500 million to support regional development plans across 17 regions representing all 92 counties.

“The seventeen regions submitted innovative, creative and visionary projects that will result in a positive economic impact on Indiana’s future... These plans will shape Indiana for generations to come and bring value to our state like nothing we’ve witnessed before. I want to thank the general assembly for having the courage and leadership to prioritize this initiative,” Governor Holcomb.

The governor participated in the annual Dentons Legislative Conference ([link removed]) earlier this week and gave a preview of what 2022 might bring to the Statehouse.

Governor Holcomb also delivered the keynote address at the 26th Annual Governor's Luncheon for Scouting ([link removed]) for Crossroads of America Council and the Boy Scouts of America. The theme of his address was Training Camp for Life.

Automatic Refund for Hoosier Taxpayers

Thanks to conservative fiscal management and a Hoosier economy that has proven its resilience, Indiana taxpayers will receive an automatic refund after they fil their 2021 taxes. An estimated $545 million will be returned to Hoosiers.

“Despite a pandemic, Indiana exceeded all expectations and closed the state fiscal year with an unprecedented amount in reserves. We have an obligation to put this money back in the hands of taxpayers instead of leaving it in the hands of government,” Governor Holcomb.

The Governor is working with leaders of the general assembly on legislation that will streamline the refund process and make an additional 910,000 taxpayers eligible for the credit. The typical taxpayer liability is approximately $1000. This payment represents a 12-13% one-time tax cut.

Once again, Republican leadership is paying dividends for Hoosiers!
Erin Lucas Elected GOP Vice Chair

Longtime republican supporter, volunteer and former Congressional staffer Erin Lucas was elected Vice Chair of the Indiana Republican Party earlier this week during a meeting of the Indiana Republican State Committee.

"Erin is perfectly suited to serve as Vice Chair. I'm thrilled she stepped up to lead and am grateful the state committee unanimously elected her," said State Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer.

She and her husband Tyler live in South Bend. They are parents to one child and expecting their second. Prior to moving to South Bend, Erin served for nearly ten years in various capacities on the staff of Congressman Larry Bucshon. Erin is a development associate with the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Joseph County. She earned her undergraduate degree at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and her MBA from the Indiana State University Scott College of Business.

She will fill the remainder of Holli Sullivan's term. Congratulations Erin!
Ellen McDaniel (1950-2021)

We want to thank all of you who've sent notes, cards, gifts, and flowers to our office for former State Party Chairman Mike McDaniel and his family. As you know, his wife Ellen (Record) McDaniel ([link removed]) , a long-time supporter of our party, passed away last week. Again, if you wish to send a card or note you can send to our HQ and we'll make sure Mike and his family receive them:
