Did you see this news? Senate Democratic leadership is dithering on whether they’ll even try to pass the Build Back Better (BBB) bill. They’ve said they want to focus on voting rights legislation instead, or that they want to cut the expanded child tax credit, and any number of other excuses.

BBB was already a massive compromise that had been tainted by corporate interests — fossil fuel subsidies, for example. Even the widely touted “universal” pre-K wasn’t universal at all; it was a poorly funded, voluntary program that all Republican states would have likely opted out of.

But now even the wins that were in it may be gone.

This is ridiculous. Democrats have the White House, Senate, and House, and it’s time they act like it. Why aren’t we thinking big? Why aren’t we talking about Medicare for All in the middle of a pandemic? I’m running for Congress to fight for the big ideas: universal programs to help everyone in this country.
