If you needed another reminder of what’s at stake in the coming midterm election, this should cover it.

Last week, Rep. Matt Gaetz sent a stark warning that he and his right-wing allies like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Jim Jordan will be the new face of the Republican Party “once they take power.”

We do our best to avoid the kind of alarmism we see so often in politics these days. But it's clear that Trump’s cult of conspiracy peddlers and insurrectionists is still alive and well in the House. If they take control, there's no telling the damage they'll do to the constitutional order.
