Hey, John, This Thursday, during the special session called by the governor, the Wisconsin legislature has the unique opportunity and responsibility to focus on two lifesaving gun violence prevention laws -- background checks on all gun sales and extreme risk protection orders. BUT... GOP leaders have announced that they will not allow a vote (or even a debate!) on these laws, despite support from 80% of Wisconsinites. Their plan to "gavel in, gavel out" is a gift to the gun lobby and a slap in the face to every Wisconsin citizen. This is not what democracy looks like! And we can't let them get away with this. >>Click here to let us know you'll be at the Capitol to stand up for democracy and for the safety of all Wisconsinites! (If you would like information about transportation options, see the note at the end of the email.) We Are The 80%: Rally for Strong Gun Laws Schedule 1:00 pm Rally near the Forward Statue/State Street entrance of the Capitol Building. We have a line-up of inspiring speakers, including advocates and survivors who are passionate about gun violence prevention. Note: The rally is outside, so dress warmly! 1:30 pm Gather in the Capitol's rotunda so the legislators need to come face-to-face with us -- the 80% -- as they enter and exit the chambers. 2:00 pm The special session convenes. Let us know that you'll be there with us, and, in the days leading up to the special session, join us on social media using the hashtags, #AllowTheVote and #SaveWILives! In Solidarity, Jacey P.S. There are two great ways to support us even if you cannot be there. You can send a message to your legislators showing your support for background checks on all gun sales and extreme risk protection orders and you can help underwrite this event by making a donation to WAVE.
