Friend --

This morning, AIPAC announced not one, but two new vehicles to bolster its
influence in Washington -- a new federal PAC and a new Super PAC.

This is a significant development for J Street and our political work.

In recent years, AIPAC has given standing ovations to Donald Trump and
Benjamin Netanyahu, providing enthusiastic support for dangerous
politicians who threaten fundamental democratic values and institutions in
both the US and Israel.

With pro-Trump officials openly laying plans to undercut our democratic
process -- and exploiting white nationalism and antisemitic conspiracy
theories to do so -- we must make clear that no amount of ‘pro-Israel’
posturing can justify political support for those who seek to undermine
democratic rights and freedoms in Israel, Palestine or right here at home.

Right now -- as we race toward the midterms -- it’s more important than
ever that we show our elected officials that AIPAC does not represent the
majority of our community.

Today, we issued an official call on AIPAC and all pro-Israel
organizations to join us in a public commitment to refuse to provide
support for any candidate for the House and Senate who voted against
certifying the results of the 2020 election or who has publicly supported
the “Big Lie” that Donald Trump won the election.

In DC and on campaign trails across the country, we’re going to show that
AIPAC and any other groups who support or excuse far-right politicians do
not represent the core values, goals and concerns of the majority of
American Jews.

We’re going to make clear that their ongoing effort to defend the
occupation and run interference on behalf of the settlement movement
actively undermines the pro-Israel, pro-peace vision that the majority of
Jewish Americans share -- a just, democratic Israel living in peace and
security alongside an independent Palestinian state.

In recent years, AIPAC has smeared progressive Democrats as terrorist
sympathizers, attacked those speaking out against settlements and sought
to undermine President Obama’s Iran deal. They continue to lobby lawmakers
on both sides against even the mildest steps to counter settler violence,
curtail settlement expansion or speak out against discriminatory
demolitions.

If you’ve ever wondered how the politics around Israel became so toxic,
divisive and polluted with misinformation, this is how -- and this new
spending will only make it worse.

We have to push back.

J Street is the political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans who want
Israel to be secure, democratic and the national home of the Jewish people.
Working in American politics and the Jewish community, we advocate policies that
advance shared US and Israeli interests as well as Jewish and democratic values,
leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
