Holiday Drive Through at Venue 1012 returns Friday!

Come see all the holiday cheer from the
comfort of your own vehicle

After last year?s success, the Village of Oswego and presenting sponsor Allied First Bank are bringing back the Holiday Drive Through at Venue 1012 on Friday, Dec. 17 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event, originally set for Dec. 10, was postponed due to inclement weather.

This Holiday Drive Through brings the return of illuminated first response vehicles, delightful holiday scenes, your favorite holiday tunes, a whole cast of your favorite holiday characters sponsored by Baird & Warner, and an appearance by Santa himself. Children will receive a goody bag from Santa?s elves while supplies last.

?Last year?s event was such a great way to celebrate Christmas, even though we couldn?t gather together, we wanted to bring it back and add even more fun to the holidays,? Village President Troy Parlier said.

Allied First Bank serves as the event?s presenting sponsor, making it possible to bring this great event back for the enjoyment of all.

?Allied First Bank has enjoyed being part of Oswego?s annual Christmas Walk, we were glad to help bring another opportunity to celebrate the holidays to the community,? said Ken Bertrand, bank President and CEO. ?We can?t wait to see you and your families there.?

Venue 1012 is located at 1012 Station Drive, near Orchard Road. Cars can expect to take between 10 and 15 minutes to get through the display route. Cars will be directed to the intersection of Lewis Street and Orchard Road to enter the event from Station Drive.

Board passes resolution on intent to connect to Lake Michigan water through the DuPage Water Commission

The Village Board approved a resolution supporting connecting to Lake Michigan water through the DuPage Water Commission at its most recent board meeting. Officials from Montgomery and Yorkville approved similar measures meaning water will, in fact, link the three communities. The recommendation comes after elected officials and staff from each municipality have spent years researching and reviewing future alternate water source options individually and collectively as a regional team aptly named WaterLink.

The DuPage Water Commission is a well-established organization that has reliably provided Lake Michigan water to its customers since 1992. The recommendation is based on the quality and sustainability of Lake Michigan water and the proximity to the existing DuPage Water Commission system, providing the lowest combined total cost of a new water source for the three communities.

The process to receive Lake Michigan water still has much work ahead, including receiving an allocation for Lake Michigan water, negotiating terms with the DuPage Water Commission, and reaching an agreements with Yorkville and Montgomery on the terms of the collaborative project. The WaterLink group will release more information as it is available.

In some communities, the switch to Lake Michigan water could occur as early as 2027. However, officials forecast that the region may not rely entirely on Lake Michigan to source water until closer to 2030.?
