BBB Will Meet Needs of Many
CLASP continues our work to highlight the many ways the Build Back Better Act will support people with low incomes, children, families, women, young people, communities of color, and immigrants. Most recently, we have noted how people who earn low wages have said loudly and clearly to policymakers that they need and want BBB’s paid leave program. In addition, we addressed what’s in BBB for child care programs in every state across the country. In fact, states are already benefiting from federal funding for child care and early education—and BBB will add substantial resources to those efforts. We are eagerly awaiting BBB’s passage and look forward to beginning our important work around implementation of the law in 2022!

Decriminalization: The Hidden Truth of Black Girls
Young Black girls experience criminalization at every point in their life, as their bodies continue to be the victims of hate and over-policing. However, this is not new. This blog illustrates how the criminalization of young Black girls and women has been occurring since slavery, manifesting itself as harsh punishments, state-sanctioned violence, and dehumanization – and is plainly visible in our legal system, medical institutions, and education today.
