? ? ? ? ? Dear Friend,

With July the hottest month ever recorded and the U.N. report calling climate change a code-red emergency, LCV's nationwide campaign [link removed] to urge Congress to enact meaningful and just climate action is more urgent than ever.

Last week, Senate Democrats voted 50-49 to advance a $3.5 trillion 10-year budget framework with game-changing investments [link removed] on climate change, jobs, and environmental justice. This includes transformative provisions and funding to: cut U.S. carbon pollution by at least half by 2030;put our nation on the path to 100% carbon-free energy that powers our electricity grid and new cars, buses, and buildings by 2035; anddeliver at least 40% of investment benefits to communities of color and low-income communities that have borne the brunt of fossil fuel pollution. This is the opportunity we've worked for ? the most ambitious climate legislation in a generation being debated and written in Congress. And right now, thanks to partners like you, LCV is running the most significant environmental campaign in our history to push priority members of Congress whose support is needed to enact this climate action NOW.

From the Climate Action Now: Great American Build Tour [link removed], to ramped up field organizing efforts in 8 states [link removed], to ongoing paid media [link removed] campaigns in key states and congressional districts with television, digital, billboard, and print ads, LCV ? along with our partner Climate Power and our 30+ state affiliates ? is working across the country to bring attention to this historic opportunity and show members of Congress that voters demand bold action.

Our current campaign is continuing as lawmakers are home over August recess. Here are some events we hope you can attend this week, as well as recent highlights:

Upcoming Events:

We hope you will join us virtually or in person. All events will follow the latest CDC guidelines for group gatherings. August 18: Join Representative Debbie Dingell (D, MI-12), Dr. Abdul El Sayed, and other climate, labor, and justice champions at the Utility Workers Union Hall [link removed] in Dearborn, Michigan for a discussion on the Wolverine State's clean energy future and the creation of even more good-paying union jobs. Can't make it in person? Join the livestream starting at 5pm ET. [link removed] August 18: The North Carolina League of Conservation Voters will be hosting a clean buses press conference with Representative Kathy Manning (D, NC-6) and labor partners from the UAW and AFL-CIO. Stop by and check out Thomas Built's Jouley electric bus model. RSVP for more details. [link removed] August 19: "Climate Justice Now!" Community Art Activation begins in Orlando, Florida with Chispa FL and local artist Carlos X. Diaz at the Church Iglesia Jesus de Nasaret. For more information, contact Pita Juarez ? [email protected] 20: Representative Angie Craig (D, MN-2) is joining Conservation Minnesota, the Blue Green Alliance, and the Steel Workers to talk about the benefits investing in infrastructure will have for workers and communities. This event will be at Waterous, 125 Hardman Ave S., South St. Paul at 2:30pm CT. To RSVP, contact Liz Deering ? [email protected]. Recent Highlights: In the field: Our team is at work in priority states and districts [link removed], demonstrating strong visible support for action with business owners, community leaders, students, and constituents who are seeing the everyday impacts of the climate crisis and want a healthier and more equitable future. Last week, our organizers hit a milestone, knocking on 100,000 doors! In addition, we connected with over 3,200 businesses and placed 8,000 yard signs. WATCH our video highlighting how our organizers and volunteers have mobilized to demand bold climate investments HERE [link removed]. [link removed] On the airwaves: LCV and Climate Power released [link removed] the first spots in a new seven-figure set of TV ads to thank senators from Georgia, New Hampshire, and Nevada who voted for the $3.5 trillion budget resolution. The climate policies at the core of this plan are supported by three out of four voters, per recent polling [link removed]. WATCH our Georgia ad, "Lower Costs" HERE [link removed]. Countering fossil-fuel lies: LCV and Climate Power announced [link removed] an additional $4 million in new spending over August recess to push back on Big Polluter-funded lies. The new ads, on the air ahead of House members' planned return to D.C. to vote on the $3.5 trillion budget resolution, were announced immediately after a well-funded pro-polluter group launched false attack ads about the overwhelmingly popular Build Back Better agenda. WATCH our ad for IA-03 HERE [link removed]. READ a memo from LCV Research Director Julie Alderman Boudreau refuting polluters' talking points HERE [link removed]. This surge of urgently needed climate-action organizing during August recess is only possible because of partners like you. Thank you for supporting LCV's work to ensure a safe, healthy, and just future for all.

Onward,

Gene Karpinski
