Today is the day, John. We parked one of our billboard trucks outside Joe Manchin’s office, and the local media is hearing us.
West Virginia’s largest newspaper, the Charleston Gazette-Mail, ran an op-ed from our West Virginia Organizer, Troy Miller, connecting high drug prices to inflation and calling on Manchin to vote for the Build Back Better Act.1
Here’s the bad news: The Senate is still dealing with procedural issues, and won’t be able to hold a vote on the Build Back Better Act until 2022. We’re going to overtime―but we can’t afford to let up on the pressure. Can you donate $7 to keep our billboard trucks on the road?
Read more about what we’ve done so far in West Virginia to keep pressure on Joe Manchin in Michael’s email from yesterday, then chip in!
Thank you,

John,
For more than a week, Social Security Works has driven billboard trucks around West Virginia, parking in front of senior centers, pharmacies, veterans facilities, sports stadiums and other places where people who are struggling with high prescription drug prices gather. That’s because WV Senator Joe Manchin is holding up passage of the Build Back Better Act, which will lower drug prices, expand access to long-term care, and finally allow Medicare to cover hearing care!
We’re getting Senator Manchin’s attention. West Virginia media is asking him about it:
With Manchin continuing to obstruct President Biden’s agenda, we need to turn up the heat. So tomorrow, we’re parking one of our billboard trucks outside of Manchin’s office in Charleston, WV―the state capital. And we’re inviting the press to cover it.
Billboard trucks are expensive―especially in West Virginia. But we’re committed to keeping the pressure on Joe Manchin and making sure West Virginians have their voices heard! Donate $7 to keep our billboards on the road!
Our strategy is working. Senator Manchin is feeling the pressure, and we can’t give up now.
Donate today to keep our billboard trucks on the road in West Virginia!
Thanks,
Michael Phelan Social Security Works
