Team, With the passage of the Build Back Better Act in the House and the bipartisan infrastructure bill becoming law, keeping our majority so that we can continue delivering for the American people is our top priority. It’s not surprising that many Future Forum Democrats are on the GOP’s 2022 target list, Katie Porter (CA-45), Raul Ruiz (CA-36), Josh Harder (CA-10), and Mike Levin (CA-49) are all representatives that Republicans are intent on removing from our razor-thin majority. Our California members were instrumental in passing transformative bills in 2021, and as we head toward a tough 2022 re-election campaign, we are calling on you to be by our side. If you are in a position to do so, please chip in $10 or more today to defend our majority next year.
After passing Build Back Better in the House, Future Forum Democrats urged their Senate colleagues to pass the bill in its current form. Last week, Rep. Porter, Rep. Harder, and nearly 100 of their Democratic colleagues sent a letter to the Senate, urging their colleagues to include a $35 cap on insulin -- an economic relief for millions of Americans suffering from diabetes -- in the Senate version of Build Back Better. And with the bipartisan infrastructure bill becoming law, our members are also working with the Biden administration on implementing that bill in their districts. Just last week, Rep. Ruiz met with the Secretary of the Department of the Interior, Deb Haaland, as they toured Desert Sunlight Solar Farm and discussed ways in which the infrastructure law will invest in critical climate policy such as renewable energy.
