Dear Friend,
Great news: Last week Jessica Rosenworcel — a huge champion of Net Neutrality and affordable internet access — was confirmed as the FCC’s chair. Now we’re fighting with everything we’ve got to get Gigi Sohn confirmed as the fifth commissioner so we can hit the ground running in 2022 with a fully functioning FCC — one that can right the wrongs of the Trump years and pursue policies that can truly transform the lives of Black, Brown and low-income communities.
Donate now to DOUBLE your impact on our urgent work in 2022.
But before we put all of our attention to the new year, I want to pause and make sure you’re aware of just how much you have helped our movement achieve in 2021. Together this past year, we:
- Got — and kept — Donald Trump kicked off of social media
- Secured $65 billion in the infrastructure bill for affordable and accessible broadband
- Testified three times (!!!) before Congress
- Celebrated one year of our Media 2070 project for media reparations — joining with 25 lawmakers to urge the FCC to investigate the history of racism in its policies
- Raised significant awareness of the non-English disinformation crisis via a Last Week Tonight with John Oliver segment, front-page coverage in The Los Angeles Times, a prominent appearance on MSNBC, and a roundtable discussion with Sens. Ben Ray Luján and Amy Klobuchar, Rep. Tony Cárdenas and FTC Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter
- Launched a revolutionary state-funded model for revitalizing community-based journalism in New Jersey
- Helped shape the Emergency Broadband Benefit program, which is bringing discounts on broadband to low-income people.
And there is so much more that we hope to accomplish in 2022: Make your year-end donation now to DOUBLE your impact and help make sure we reach our ambitious goal of raising $50,000 by Dec. 31.
Thank you for everything you have done — and continue to do — for our movement.
In solidarity,
Jessica J. González

P.S. Because we don’t take a single dollar from business, government or political parties, all of our movement’s achievements from this past year — including securing $65 billion in the infrastructure bill toward ending the digital divide — happened thanks to support from people like you. Help us get a fully functioning FCC and hit the ground running in 2022: Donate now and our generous matching-gift donor will DOUBLE your gift.
