John, we can't stop now.
The House passing the Build Back Better Act was an unprecedented investment in climate and jobs and a statement on the power of our movement. But we're approaching A MONTH since the House sent it over to the Senate.
The House passed an almost $2 trillion version of the Build Back Better Act that includes about $550 billion for climate. That's the Civilian Climate Corps, clean energy programs and tax credits, and other federal efforts for the climate crisis. That's also universal pre-K, paid family and medical leave, lower drug prices, and much more.
There are just two problems: Senators Manchin and Sinema have yet to indicate their support for BBB. Big surprise there.
Progressives have already made enough compromises. We've fought hard to defend Biden's bare minimum agenda. Senate Democrats need to keep corporations out of negotiations and do what is right for working people and our democracy at this moment.
In solidarity,
All of us at Sunrise
