Last week, at the behest of Mitch McConnell, Joe Manchin, and Kyrsten Sinema did what we have been told is impossible and made an exception to the filibuster so we could raise the debt ceiling.
Yet, time and time again, we have heard from them that the filibuster is sacred and cannot be touched under any circumstances whatsoever.
Well now it is clear that with enough pressure, carve-outs to the filibuster can be made… and if we can do it for debt limits there is no reason why we can’t do it to protect voting rights.
