Yesterday afternoon, news broke that the United States Senate is shifting its focus to voting rights.

That’s important, because time is running out.

Time is running out to combat voter suppression.

Time is running out to pass no excuse absentee voting and automatic voter registration.

Time is running out to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.

Time is running out to fund elections systems security.

Time is running out to ensure fair election maps are drawn so voters pick their elected officials and not elected officials picking their voters.

Time is running out to protect Wisconsin from the total Republican takeover of our elections that Ron Johnson is calling for.

But change will NEVER come on this issue unless we demand it. So today, Mandela is asking:

Please sign Mandela Barnes’ petition calling on the United States Senate to abolish the filibuster to pass legislation protecting and expanding the right of all Americans to vote and pick their elected officials.

It’s time to return the power in elections to the people, instead of the wealthy and well-connected.
