CAMPAIGN FOR TOBACCO-FREE KIDS • Celebrating 25 Years • Taking on the Toughest Fights

John,

More than two million U.S. kids reported using e-cigarettes in the first half of 2021. And that was when many schools remained closed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kids are back in the classroom now, and the most popular e-cigarette brands are still on the market. That includes the flavored products most popular with youth, like Juul and Puff Bar.

We’re working nonstop to get these dangerously addictive flavored products off the market and out of kids’ hands.

Will you support this all-out effort by donating to Tobacco-Free Kids today?

There is no question flavored products are driving this youth addiction epidemic. 85% of youth e-cigarette users use flavored products. Kids report that the most popular flavors are fruit, candy/desserts/other sweets, mint and menthol.

We know we can’t rely on the tobacco companies that created this crisis to do the right thing. They’ve been too busy raking in billions of dollars while hooking millions of kids on nicotine.

We’re urging policy makers at all levels to eliminate all flavored tobacco products, including flavored e-cigarettes.

The FDA has the authority to take flavored tobacco products off the market, and they should act without delay. Until the FDA acts, states and cities must continue to prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco on their own. To date, five states – California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island – and hundreds of cities have taken action.

Our elected leaders and trusted regulatory authorities must take all steps necessary to end the youth e-cigarette epidemic for good. That means eliminating all flavored e-cigarettes, including menthol-flavored products, and stopping manufacturers from evading regulation with synthetic nicotine.

There’s a reason that the theme of Tobacco-Free Kids' 25th anniversary year is Taking on the Toughest Fights.

Big Tobacco is an entrenched special interest with deep pockets and a long history of fighting dirty. We’ve been in this fight for two and a half decades now, and we’re going to stay with it until we prevail. We need all the support we can get along the way.

Donate now to end the youth e-cig crisis >>

Thank you for standing with us, John! We’ll keep you updated every step along the way.

Sincerely,

Laurie Rubiner
Executive Vice President, U.S. Programs
